Sooooo… You’ve shot your animation, but your images are too big or upside down. Here’s how to change either (or both). For this tutorial, we’re going to resize the images shot for the clay homework (Thank you, Miguel, for letting us use your wonderful animation for our demonstration!).
The original images were shot with a large output size, about 5000 pixels across. Remember, we’re going only to 1920 across (and sometimes even smaller!).
Once you’ve imported your folder and dragged it to the timeline, select the magnifying tool.
Use this tool to make the timeline larger (so you can see individual frames).
Now switch to the select tool.
1. Choose the first frame in your timeline. We’re going to make this frame correct and then apply those changes to the other frames.
2. Now choose the Effects Controls (top left).
1. Select ‘Motion’ to open
2. Go to scale for resizing. It should start out at 100%. If we want to make it smaller, choose a smaller number.
I chose 20% which is 1/5 the original size. I can see to the right that that’s pretty good!
Now click on the word ‘Motion’ to copy your change to the image.
Just outside of the Video 1 track, click and drag to choose the rest of your images. The upper left effects box should say multiple clips selected. Control V (paste) and the changes should be applied to the rest of the images. Click outside the Video 1 track to deselect the images and watch the upper right display to see if it worked.
This can be a little tricky if you don’t click in the right places.
As for flipping your animation, do the same process as above, but instead of choosing scale, choose rotation and change it to 180 degrees.
Good Luck!
